As we enter the month of August, my time here at Positano News has come to an end. In the past five weeks I was able to live within the community, learn what is important to the community, learn about each communities accomplishments, and meet some of their important political leaders, such as the Mayor of Sant’Agnello.

I chose a journalism internship in hopes to improve my writing, and I believe I have done that with the help of Michele. Michele has introduced me to daily life here in Sorrento, and has helped me discover topics for my writings, which eventually resulted in developing my own ideas.

Michele has allowed me to be a part of his daily routine which has included driving to many different locations to acquire accurate information for a reliable article, and walking, lots of walking, to obtain other information we needed for different stories.

As an aspiring journalist, it’s important to keep your eyes open for what you would like to share with the world, it’s also very important to answer your readers’ questions before the end of each article.

This is an experience of a lifetime and I’m grateful I got to experience it while being a part of the PositanoNews team. Michele portrays hard work, dedication, and determination each and every day for his successful newspaper. I plan on taking these qualities with me where ever I go, and also the bit of Italian he has been able to teach me.

Writing as a career choice is still very new to me, I can only hope to learn as much as I have these past five weeks as I return home to finish my education.

If there’s something you’ve been wanting to do, or thought about doing, make sure you at least try it- you may surprise yourself.

Ciào,
