The other evening there was a festival full of traditions in Corsano, one of the 13 villages of Tramonti. Like always I took my camera and made quite some photos. On just a table some grocery products were displayed and so I thought: well, let me have a look, but it was quite dark there and I could not really see well. The beans looked familiar to me and so I asked: is this the traditional mixture of beans you use here in Tramonti? The answer was no. Then this morning a surprise: I downloaded the photos on my computer to have a look and these beans are the traditional mixture. This made me very much think about Ciccillo and his wine from secular vines ... it's exactly the same scenario: people still hold traditional seeds in their hands, cultivate them, but don't know how relevant these are ... for them it's just "beans" because they got them from their parents and grand parents and they just keep doing what their families did for centuries. So now: there are two, who have the beans, Monte di Grazia and this other people ... and now I have to find out who they are.
For us, that is Vox Humanitatis, this fact is relevant. If you, who read this blog, are from Tramonti, please help to find out who else still has this bean variety. Monte di Grazia is trying to keep it alive, but one or two alone can't make it.
